If you are really tensed with your day-to-day mundane busy life and need to take a breather, Night at the museum 2 is your movie. If you have already seen the original Night at the Museum (2006) you’d know what to expect from the sequel and even if you haven’t, let us enlighten you on it by making it clear it’s quite a no-brainer yet a cute one time watch. For those who are fond of History, this one’s quite a rib-tickling comedy for you.

Night at the museum: Battle of the Smithsonian takes off where the original ended with some new characters added to it. Larry (Ben Stiller) is no more a security guard at a museum, he is a success. He is a rich inventor who sells his products on TV infomercials. However, as the popular adage goes, money cannot buy happiness. Larry gets back into the guard uniform when he finds out that many of his exhibit buddies are being sent into permanent storage down in Washington D.C. Larry now has to barge into the Smithsonian museum, get hold of the Egyptian tablet and stop a new villain who has come to life in the museum.

The film is entertaining whenever the exhibits come to life with nothing much to do for Ben Stiller, although Stiller shares a good chemistry with Amy. Hank Azaria as villain Kahmunrah and Amy Adams as feminist Amelia Earhart deliver best performances. Amy Adams’ vocab, body language, gestures, expressions are all according to the era she is shown to belong and her sheer presence lights up the screen. The film drags a bit in the second half and few sequences seem repetitive.

Scenes where the cupids follow Adams and Stiller, Abraham Lincoln and Einstein come to life, Dinosaurs roar a la Jurassic Park and the rockets put up on exhibition in the space museum start firing are fun to watch. The film has no great
plot but gives the feeling of history coming to life and there lies its success.

Night at the museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is a juvenile cute comedy that will drive your blues away... Go visit this museum.
