Before Ricky Martin came out publicly this week, Barbara Walters expressed her regret at asking him if he was gay during an interview about a decade earlier.

Now it’s Billy Bush’s turn.

The Access Hollywood host reveals that seven years ago, he asked Ricky the gay question and the singer cut the interview short, tearing off his mic and leaving the set.

The interview was not live and the footage never aired. Billy went to Ricky’s dressing room and the two had a private chat and Ricky explained that he had just returned from two years off during which time he had tried to come to terms with his sexuality.
