‘The Final Destination’ Movie Review

People who like horror as a genre, find bleeding skulls, blood oozing eye balls, and slashed distorted faces fun to watch but we are sure horror fans wont find it funny when the film is actually funny.

The Final Destination is one of those slasher films which is neither scary nor spooky. The filmmaker seems to have no story in mind so decides to turn adventurous action thriller ‘Fast & Furious’ into a horror movie. He robs composer Brian Tyler of Fast & Furious and makes him give background music for this film, he gets two couples play lead in the film as again the F&F series and if that’s not enough he even uses cars and their spare parts (not to forget even the liquids used in them – oil, petrol, grease whatever possible) as weapons of the invisible psychopathic killer who stalks these youngsters in order to kill them.

This film is different than F&F in one way though, how? The film’s genre is horror silly!

Thus to give this horror film a twist the filmmaker makes death itself as the killer instead of showing a masked or hooded psychopath loitering around with his knife. So the group of friends who we assume are college kids keep dreaming around spare parts err ‘dangerous’ spare parts and waste all the time pondering over who will be killed next. Why death wants to kill those who witnessed the Nascar race (opening scene) no one knows and nor do we get an answer till the end.

Background score doesn’t build up the anxiety, execution doesn’t make you scream, characters are generic with no back stories and the circumstances in which the characters get killed are simply funny for they are clichéd to the core.

A character foresees gruesome deaths and tries to dodge them and the film keeps repeating this theme throughout making you smile in disbelief wondering how this film can ever be a horror film!

If you have nothing else to do and love watching unintentionally funny films watch this one with your gang. You will be unable to control your laughter.
